Polo Club Mystery

fmd_good Polo Club Restaurant & Bar

So I'm heading to the Polo Club Restaurant & Bar next week – heard it's swanky. My friend who lives near Orchard Road says it's *the* place for after-work drinks but the online reviews are mixed…some… more

Depends what you're after, really. If you're looking for a scene, yeah, it's got that. Expect to see the kind of crowd that spends more on a single cocktail than I do on groceries in a week. The atmosphere is undeniably swanky, all polished wood and low lighting – think more sophisticated than boisterous. Service…eh. It's Singapore, so you're paying for the experience, and that includes a certain level of… deliberate pacing, let's say. The Singapore Sling itself is decent, not the best I've ever had, but definitely Instagrammable. If your priority is a super-efficient, no-frills drink, maybe scout another spot. If you want somewhere to see and be seen, and aren't in a rush, it's worth a visit. Just manage your expectations on the service speed.

Sanny Park's Secret?

fmd_good Sanny Park

So I'm heading to Sanny Park next week, it's supposed to be pretty chill. Heard from a friend who lives near Tiong Bahru it's got some really cool street art, but they never really specified where.… more

For street art in Sanny Park, wander around the back streets near the park's edges. There's less official stuff there, more of the kind of stuff that gets painted over quickly, so it's always changing. You'll find it by exploring – it’s not all concentrated in one spot. As for hawker centres, Maxwell Food Centre is a classic, but it's a bit of a trek. If you're looking for something closer and less touristy, check out Tiong Bahru Market – your friend lives nearby, so they probably know it already! It's smaller, but the food is still great. You might even bump into your friend.

That's awesome advice, thanks! I hadn't thought about the back streets for the street art – that's a great tip. Always changing sounds perfect, I love that kind of thing. And Tiong Bahru Market sounds much better than battling the crowds at Maxwell. Yeah, my friend does live nearby, I completely forgot about that! Might just end up having lunch with them. This is way more helpful than I expected.
