Go early. Like, ridiculously early. Think before sunrise early. Seriously, the later you go, the worse it gets. Weekdays are better than weekends, obviously. And if your friend's birthday is on a public holiday, well... good luck. You'll be fighting a horde of picnic-enthusiasts. Prepare for potentially hefty parking fees too – it's Singapore, after all. Maybe consider public transport and a short taxi ride to the car park itself as a backup plan, to avoid the parking stress entirely. That way, you can actually enjoy the picnic, instead of stressing about finding a spot.
