Check out the hawker centre near the Tiong Bahru MRT station. It's not exactly secret, but it's definitely less crowded than the Orchard Road area and you'll find some great, less-common dishes there. I had amazing prawn noodles there once – way better than any I found closer to the tourist hubs. Wander around a bit; you'll find some smaller stalls tucked away – that's where the real gems are.
