Supertrees at Night?

fmd_good Gardens by the Bay

So, I'm heading to Gardens by the Bay in a few weeks and I'm completely obsessed with the Supertree Grove. Saw pics online of the light show – insane. My question is: are the best photo spots for t… more

Yeah, the Supertree light show is amazing. Expect crowds, especially on weekends and holidays. Sunset shots are gonna be tough to get without a throng of people, unless you're incredibly lucky or there's some unexpected rain clearing things out. To increase your chances of less crowded photos, try going earlier in the evening, maybe right as the sun dips below the horizon and the light show starts. Or, consider a weekday visit – always a better bet. For pictures, experiment with different angles! Don't just stick to the obvious spots. Try getting some shots from the OCBC Skyway (if you're willing to pay the entry fee – it's worth it for the unique perspectives) or even from the water. A tripod helps immensely for the light show – those long exposures will capture all the amazing detail. And, play with your camera's settings; learn how to adjust aperture for depth of field (blur the background). You'll get much better results than just point and shoot.

Probably nothing. Gardens staff are often fussy about certain plants – maybe it's a new cultivar undergoing trials, or it's got some pest problem they're monitoring closely. Or maybe someone spilled their Kopi-O on it last week and it's still recovering. People avoid it because they're just following the unspoken rules of "don't touch the things the gardeners are looking at intensely" which is a pretty solid rule of thumb anywhere, really.
