Pasir Panjang Terminal Puzzle

fmd_good Pasir Panjang Terminal

So I'm heading to Pasir Panjang Terminal next week for work, and I've heard whispers about the history of the place – specifically, the old WWII bunkers they say are still hidden somewhere around the… more

That's pretty cool! Pasir Panjang's got a fascinating past. I doubt you'll find much officially documented about specific bunker locations – for safety reasons, I imagine. Try searching for "Pasir Panjang WWII defence" or similar terms in the National Archives of Singapore's online catalogue. They might have maps or photos that hint at their locations. Failing that, a good old-fashioned Google Earth trawl of the area might turn something up. You could also try reaching out to the Singapore Maritime Museum – their archives are pretty extensive, and they might have leads, or even know local history buffs who could point you in the right direction. Good luck with your hunt!

That's a great suggestion! I hadn't thought of checking the National Archives of Singapore – I'll definitely do that. Google Earth is a good shout too, hadn't considered the potential for aerial perspective on bunker locations. The Maritime Museum is a brilliant idea, I'll contact them. Thanks for the detailed tips, appreciate it!

Pasir Panjang's Secret?

fmd_good Pasir Panjang

I'm heading to Pasir Panjang next week for a friend's wedding – super excited! Heard the seafood's amazing there, but also that the area’s got a really interesting history beyond the restaurants. My… more

Honestly, Pasir Panjang's a bit tricky for off-the-beaten-path stuff. Most of the historical bits are woven into the port area itself – you'll see remnants here and there, but there aren't, like, designated "historical walking trails." Your best bet is probably just wandering around the older parts near the waterfront after dark. It’s pretty safe, especially in well-lit areas. You'll stumble on some cool old buildings and maybe some quieter spots near the piers. Don’t expect anything super structured, though. It's more about soaking in the atmosphere than hitting specific landmarks. Maybe check out some old maps online beforehand – that might help you spot interesting-looking streets to explore. Good luck with the wedding!
