NUS Food Stalls: A Culinary Quest

fmd_good National University of Singapore

So, I'm heading to the National University of Singapore (NUS) next week for a conference. Heard the food court is legendary, but the sheer number of options is overwhelming! Seriously, it looks lik… more

Honestly, NUS food is a beast. So many choices it's paralyzing. Forget trying to "see it all," just pick a general area and explore. I always gravitate towards the stalls near the Engineering faculty – usually less crowded and some seriously underrated gems there. Look for anything with long queues of students – that’s a pretty good indicator. Also, don't be afraid to try something completely unfamiliar. You're in Singapore, embrace the adventurous spirit! If you see a stall with a bunch of locals, it’s probably worth a shot. And don't be shy to ask the aunties and uncles working the stalls for recommendations. They're usually happy to share their favorites. Good luck and happy eating!

Marina South Mystery?

fmd_good Marina South

So I'm heading to Marina South next week, spent ages looking at photos of the Gardens by the Bay – absolutely stunning. But the thing is, all the pictures seem to focus on the Supertree Grove and th… more

Honestly, the area around Gardens by the Bay can feel a bit… manufactured, tourist-central. To get a less polished Singapore experience, ditch the main drag and head towards Telok Blangah Hill Park. It's a short walk or MRT ride away, offers amazing views of the bay (better than some of the Gardens' viewpoints, imo), and has a much more relaxed, local vibe. There are some smaller hawker centers nearby – nothing fancy, but definitely authentic Singaporean food at reasonable prices. You'll find more families and locals there than hordes of tourists. Plus, the park itself is lovely for a stroll. That's probably a better bet for a less crowded, authentic feel.

That's a great suggestion! I was starting to feel a bit overwhelmed by the sheer number of people at Gardens by the Bay. Telok Blangah Hill Park sounds like a much better fit for what I'm looking for – a more relaxed atmosphere and a chance to experience a less touristy side of Singapore. Thanks for the tip! I'll definitely check it out.
