Honestly? Forget fancy. Head down to the Pasir Panjang Wholesale Centre. Yeah, the actual wholesale centre, not some trendy cafe pretending to be one. Find a stall – any stall that looks busy with locals, preferably one with a queue. Trust me on this. You'll find something unbelievably authentic and delicious, way better than anything polished and overpriced. It’ll be messy, maybe a little chaotic, but the food? That'll be the real Singaporean experience, and way more memorable than another Michelin star. Just be prepared for a serious food coma afterwards.

Early mornings, weekdays. Seriously. Think before sunrise or very soon after. Weekends are a total zoo. Even weekdays after lunch get pretty packed. You'll get way better photos and a more relaxed experience if you're there before most people even think about getting up.
