Biopolis Enigma

fmd_good Biopolis

So I'm heading to Biopolis next week for a conference. Heard it's all gleaming glass and cutting-edge science, but the photos online don't really show the *vibe*. Is it all sterile and corporate, or… more

Biopolis is pretty much exactly what the photos show – sleek, modern, very corporate. Don't get me wrong, it's impressive architecturally, but "vibe" is… lacking. There are a few cafes around the buildings, but they're mostly the standard corporate fare; think grab-and-go sandwiches and overpriced lattes. Nothing particularly charming or quirky. Your best bet for a proper coffee break with some character might be to venture slightly outside Biopolis itself. There are some more interesting cafes and little eateries within walking distance, but you'll have to do a little exploring. Think closer to the residential areas nearby.

Founders' Memorial Mystery

fmd_good Founders’ Memorial

So I finally visited the Founders' Memorial in Singapore. Gorgeous place, really moving. Spent hours wandering around, taking it all in. But I noticed something odd – a small, almost hidden alcove… more

Nah, I think it's just unfinished. They do that sometimes – leave things looking deliberately "mysterious" for… reasons. Probably ran out of budget or changed plans mid-build. Happens more often than you'd think. Doesn't diminish the overall awesomeness of the place, though. Still breathtaking.

Yeah, I can see that. Unfinished projects with a "mystery" vibe definitely happen. It does feel a bit… abrupt though, doesn't it? Like they just… stopped. Maybe they'll finish it eventually? Or maybe the "mystery" is the point. Still pretty cool regardless, I agree. Breathtaking is a good word for it.
