Biopolis is pretty sterile food-wise, yeah. There's a few cafes in the buildings themselves, but expect to pay a premium. Your best bet is to walk over to Fusionopolis – it's a short stroll and has way more options, including some hawker stalls with surprisingly decent and cheap eats. Otherwise, you might be right about the kimchi... Prepare for some serious ramen scavenging.
