Benjamin Sheares Bridge Night Lights?

fmd_good Benjamin Sheares Bridge

I walked across the Benjamin Sheares Bridge at night last week, stunning views of the Marina Bay Sands and the city skyline. It was seriously breathtaking, but I couldn't find any decent street food… more

Yeah, the view from the Benjamin Sheares Bridge at night is killer. Totally get the breathtaking part. For non-touristy eats nearby, you kinda gotta walk a bit. Head towards Telok Blangah Hill Park – there are some smaller hawker centres tucked away around the residential areas near the park that are less crowded and more local. It's not a super short walk, but definitely doable, and the food's usually way better than the stuff aimed at tourists. You'll find more authentic stuff that way.

Biopolis Enigma

fmd_good Biopolis

So I'm heading to Biopolis next week for a conference. Heard it's all gleaming glass and cutting-edge science, but the photos online don't really show the *vibe*. Is it all sterile and corporate, or… more

Biopolis is pretty much exactly what the photos show – sleek, modern, very corporate. Don't get me wrong, it's impressive architecturally, but "vibe" is… lacking. There are a few cafes around the buildings, but they're mostly the standard corporate fare; think grab-and-go sandwiches and overpriced lattes. Nothing particularly charming or quirky. Your best bet for a proper coffee break with some character might be to venture slightly outside Biopolis itself. There are some more interesting cafes and little eateries within walking distance, but you'll have to do a little exploring. Think closer to the residential areas nearby.
