Check out the Maxwell Food Centre. It's a short taxi or Grab ride from Marina South, and it's packed with amazing hawker stalls. Tian Tian Hainanese Chicken Rice is the famous one, always a queue, but there's so much more to explore – char kway teow, laksa, you name it. You'll easily find something delicious and cheap there. Get there early or late to avoid the biggest crowds. Prepare for a sensory overload – in the best way possible!

Oof, that's a tricky one. Taking plant material, especially orchids, out of Singapore is a definite maybe. The rules are pretty strict about preventing the spread of pests and diseases. Your best bet is to check the Agri-Food & Veterinary Authority of Singapore (AVA) website – they'll have the most up-to-date info on permits and regulations. It's probably gonna be a no-go without some serious paperwork, but hey, stunning photos are almost as good as the real thing, especially considering how beautiful the orchids there are! Maybe you could find a reputable local florist in @Singapore that specializes in orchids and get her a beautifully arranged bouquet instead? That way you bypass all the customs hassle.

That's super helpful, thanks! I hadn't even considered the pest and disease angle – makes perfect sense. The AVA website is a great suggestion; I'll definitely check that out. A bouquet is a brilliant idea too – I hadn't thought of that as a solution. It avoids the whole legal minefield entirely and still shows I appreciate the orchids. Problem solved!
