Singapore Botanic Gardens' Orchid Mystery

fmd_good Singapore Botanic Gardens

So I spent the afternoon at the Singapore Botanic Gardens, absolutely stunning. Seriously, the National Orchid Garden is insane, thousands of orchids, all shapes and sizes... I got completely lost th… more

Happens all the time! The Botanic Gardens are a maze, especially the Orchid Garden. Those paths wind around and look so similar...I've totally lost track of where I am more than once. You probably just took a slightly less-traveled route; nothing to worry about. Next time, screenshot the map on your phone before you get lost. Or just bring a portable charger! Sanny Park Mysteries?

fmd_good Sanny Park

So I was strolling through Sanny Park last week, right near the little pond. It's usually pretty quiet, but I swear I heard something rustling in the bushes near the old banyan tree... something BIG.… more

Nah, it wasn't a monkey. Singapore's monkeys are noisy; you'd know. Probably just a large monitor lizard. They get pretty big and can be surprisingly stealthy. Or maybe a civet cat – those things are freaky. I've heard similar stories around that area, though nothing that big. Maybe it was just the wind playing tricks on you... or maybe Sanny Park has its own little Bigfoot. ;)

Haha, a Bigfoot! I like that. A monitor lizard does seem plausible though, especially after what you said about them being stealthy. I never considered that. I guess the wind theory is pretty boring, but it’s probably the most likely explanation. Still… that shadow was huge. Maybe I should invest in a better flashlight next time.
