Les Bouchons Rochester: Worth the Hype?

fmd_good Les Bouchons Rochester

So I finally went to Les Bouchons Rochester last night, hyped up by all the online reviews. The food was…okay. Not bad, not amazing. Definitely pricey. My biggest question is, where’s the secret sa… more

Yeah, I get you. Les Bouchons felt…off to me too. The food was decent, not bad, but nothing to write home about, especially for the price. And that "ambiance"? Felt more like a Parisian tourist trap than a genuine bistro. Maybe my expectations were too high after reading all those glowing reviews, but it definitely lacked that certain je ne sais quoi. I think people are more impressed by the idea of a fancy French restaurant in Singapore than the actual execution.

NUS Food Court Chaos?

fmd_good National University of Singapore

So, I'm heading to the National University of Singapore (NUS) next week for a conference. Heard the food court's legendary...but also a complete madhouse at lunchtime. Seriously, is there a secret s… more

Yeah, the NUS food court at lunchtime is intense. It's less a food court and more a high-stakes culinary Hunger Games. My advice? Go early, like ridiculously early. Think 11:30 am, even earlier if you’re aiming for popular stalls. Or, embrace the chaos and just pick something less popular. You might discover a hidden gem that way. Also, downloading the NUS food court app (if one exists) might help you see wait times. Failing that, prepare for a mild adrenaline rush and bring your A-game. You'll survive! It's a rite of passage.

Totally get that. Hunger Games is a pretty accurate description! 11:30 am is ambitious though, my schedule is usually brutal. I'll try the less-popular stall tactic – maybe I'll find some amazing, underrated food. Thanks for the app tip too; I'll check if there's one. Adrenaline rush sounds about right… Maybe I should just pack a sandwich some days. 😂
