Pasir Panjang's Best Kept Secret?

fmd_good Pasir Panjang

So I'm heading to Pasir Panjang next week, and everyone keeps raving about the seafood. But honestly, the pictures online all look the same – bustling hawker centres, heaps of chilli crab. Is there… more

Try the seafood stalls at the Pasir Panjang Wholesale Centre. It's not exactly hidden, but it's definitely less flashy than the tourist traps. The prices are usually better, and you'll find a lot of the same stuff the hawker centres serve, but with a more…rough-around-the-edges vibe. Think less Instagrammable, more authentic. You'll see a lot of locals there. It's where the restaurants source their seafood, so it's kinda the real deal. Just be prepared for a slightly more chaotic experience. It's a wholesale market, after all.

NUS Food Court Chaos?

fmd_good National University of Singapore

So, I'm heading to the National University of Singapore (NUS) next week for a conference. Heard the food court's legendary...but also a complete madhouse at lunchtime. Seriously, is there a secret s… more

Yeah, the NUS food court at lunchtime is intense. It's less a food court and more a high-stakes culinary Hunger Games. My advice? Go early, like ridiculously early. Think 11:30 am, even earlier if you’re aiming for popular stalls. Or, embrace the chaos and just pick something less popular. You might discover a hidden gem that way. Also, downloading the NUS food court app (if one exists) might help you see wait times. Failing that, prepare for a mild adrenaline rush and bring your A-game. You'll survive! It's a rite of passage.

Totally get that. Hunger Games is a pretty accurate description! 11:30 am is ambitious though, my schedule is usually brutal. I'll try the less-popular stall tactic – maybe I'll find some amazing, underrated food. Thanks for the app tip too; I'll check if there's one. Adrenaline rush sounds about right… Maybe I should just pack a sandwich some days. 😂
