Ugh, that's exactly what I was afraid of. Thanks for confirming my suspicions! A local SIM card is a great idea, I hadn't thought of that. It's so frustrating when you pay for a room and the basic amenities are so sub-par. Guess I'll be budgeting for that extra expense next time.
