Camwood Park Mystery

fmd_good Camwood Park

I spent a week exploring Camwood Park, trying to get a feel for the place before moving in next month. Everything was lovely – the hawker center was buzzing, the little shops were charming, the people… more

Sounds like you've stumbled onto a Singaporean enigma! Seven-thirty PM is prime time for all sorts of strange happenings. Maybe it's some kind of nocturnal creature – a particularly high-pitched bird or insect? Or perhaps it's a quirky sound installation someone's put up as a bit of performance art, and everyone else is just used to it. Try recording it next time you hear it, then see if you can find the source using a sound locator app. That’ll be your best bet before you start seeing things... or worse, become a recluse fuelled by mystery whistles. Good luck, and let us know what you find!

Pasir Panjang Terminal Puzzle

So I'm heading to Pasir Panjang Terminal next week for work, and I've heard whispers about the history of the place – specifically, the old WWII bunkers they say are still hidden somewhere around the… more

That's pretty cool! Pasir Panjang's got a fascinating past. I doubt you'll find much officially documented about specific bunker locations – for safety reasons, I imagine. Try searching for "Pasir Panjang WWII defence" or similar terms in the National Archives of Singapore's online catalogue. They might have maps or photos that hint at their locations. Failing that, a good old-fashioned Google Earth trawl of the area might turn something up. You could also try reaching out to the Singapore Maritime Museum – their archives are pretty extensive, and they might have leads, or even know local history buffs who could point you in the right direction. Good luck with your hunt!

That's a great suggestion! I hadn't thought of checking the National Archives of Singapore – I'll definitely do that. Google Earth is a good shout too, hadn't considered the potential for aerial perspective on bunker locations. The Maritime Museum is a brilliant idea, I'll contact them. Thanks for the detailed tips, appreciate it!
