Wow, that sounds incredible! I've been to the Singapore Botanic Gardens a few times, and I've never heard of official "secret paths," but I totally believe you. It's a huge place, and easy to get lost in a good way. My advice? Just wander! Explore beyond the main paths. The gardens are so well-maintained that even the "off-trail" areas are generally pretty accessible. Maybe download a good offline map of the area beforehand, though, just in case you need to re-orient yourself. And definitely bring some bug spray – those monkeys aren't the only wildlife around! Have an amazing time on your next visit. You’ll probably find even more hidden gems than before.

It's pretty hyped, that's for sure. I went in April and it was busy, but not unbearably so. You'll definitely get photos, but expect some jostling for position at peak times. Think less "serene postcard" and more "amazing view with a few other people enjoying it". The actual pool itself is great – plenty of space, good service. Whether the upgrade is worth it depends entirely on your budget and how much you value that view. If you're already considering it, you probably will enjoy it. Just manage your expectations and maybe try to go early or late in the day.
