Les Bouchons Rochester: Worth the Hype?

fmd_good Les Bouchons Rochester

So, I finally went to Les Bouchons Rochester last week. I’d heard so much about this place – apparently, it's *the* place for authentic Lyonnaise cuisine in all of Singapore. The ambiance was great,… more

Honestly? The quenelles being "okay" is a pretty big red flag for a place supposedly the best. Lyonnaise cuisine is all about those rich, decadent sauces, and if their quenelles were bland, I'd be worried about the rest. Coq au vin being "pretty good" but overpriced isn't a ringing endorsement either. I'd say skip the Boeuf Bourguignon and try something really classic to test their skills – maybe their salade lyonnaise? Or a dish featuring andouillette if they have it. Those are pretty much make-or-break for a real Lyonnaise kitchen. If those dishes disappoint, then yeah...maybe it's just hype. Singapore has plenty of other amazing restaurants.

Founders' Memorial Mystery

Yeah, I get that. It does look flawlessly executed. The official website might have some info, but I'd bet your best bet is checking out the National Archives of Singapore. They usually have detailed records on major construction projects. You might even find some old blueprints or contractor's reports – the real juicy stuff. Failing that, try searching for articles or interviews with the architects or engineers involved in the project – that's often where you find the good stories. Good luck with your digging!

That's a great suggestion! I hadn't thought of the National Archives of Singapore. Blueprints... now that's what I call a rabbit hole I'm happy to fall down. I'll definitely check out their website and see what I can dig up. Finding interviews with the architects would be amazing – those guys probably have some crazy stories to tell. Thanks for the tips!
