Nah, it's a myth. Been to the Pit Building a few times. There's nothing down there but concrete and probably some seriously boring plumbing. People love a good mystery, though. Singapore's got enough real intrigue without making stuff up. Think of all the delicious hawker food you'll find instead of hunting for ghost staircases! You'll have a blast anyway, the garages are awesome.
Founders' Memorial Mystery

Probably just storage or utilities. Government buildings often have those little tucked-away spaces for stuff like HVAC equipment or electrical panels. Doesn't mean there's no interesting story behind it, though – maybe it was originally intended for something else, and plans changed. Lots of construction projects get altered mid-stream. It's Singapore; I doubt they'd leave a secret vault full of historical documents lying around unlocked! 😉 Unless... it's full of delicious kaya toast. Now that would be a secret worth uncovering.
