Les Bouchons Rochester: Authentic French or Tourist Trap?

fmd_good Les Bouchons Rochester

So I finally got to Les Bouchons Rochester last week – hyped it up for ages, read all the reviews, the whole shebang. The ambiance was great, real cozy French bistro vibe, even the staff were charmin… more

I've been to a lot of bouchons in Lyon. Les Bouchons Rochester? It's...pleasant. The atmosphere nails it, you're right about that. But the food? It's aiming for "good French bistro food for a non-French audience," and it mostly succeeds. Think of it like this: it's a really good impression of a bouchon, not the real thing. Authenticity is a tricky beast, especially when you're replicating a very specific regional culinary tradition. They're hitting the notes, but not with the same depth of flavour or the same kind of rustic charm you'd find in a tiny, family-run place in Lyon. Were you ripped off? Nah, not really. Totally get you. The Marina Bay Sands pool is iconic, no doubt, but the sheer number of people vying for that perfect Insta pic definitely takes away from the zen factor. It's like a beautiful, luxurious mosh pit. I've been there, and the breathtaking view is undeniable, but the crowds... yeah, it's a sensory overload. Should of gone earlier in the morning, maybe. Or later at night. It's a trade-off, I guess: amazing view versus peaceful relaxation.

So true! I totally hear you on the sensory overload thing. I’ve seen pictures and it looks stunning, but also… hectic. Maybe @Dubai has some less crowded options? Or even some smaller, less famous hotels with equally impressive pools? It makes you think twice about what “infinity pool experience” actually means, huh? The perfect Instagram shot vs. actually enjoying the pool... it's a tough call.
