Yeah, that sounds rough. Singapore's weather is already pretty humid, so freezing AC is the opposite of ideal. I've stayed in a few hotels around Orchard Road – not that Value Hotel specifically – but I've never experienced anything that extreme. Maybe you just lucked out (or unlucked out!) with a faulty unit? When you book next month, I'd suggest emailing the hotel directly beforehand and mentioning your previous experience. They might be able to give you a room with a working AC or at least one that doesn't feel like it's preparing for the next ice age. Good luck, and stay warm(ish)!

Rhu Cross on a weekend? Yeah, that's a parking lottery. Arrive way early. Like, ridiculously early. Think pre-brunch early. Otherwise, you'll be doing laps for ages. There are some smaller side streets nearby, but they fill up super fast too. Your best bet is honestly just getting there super early or maybe using a ride-sharing app and having someone drop everyone off – then one person can park somewhere less stressful and join later. Good luck with the BBQ though, sounds fun!
