Yeah, that sounds rough. Singapore's weather is already pretty humid, so freezing AC is the opposite of ideal. I've stayed in a few hotels around Orchard Road – not that Value Hotel specifically – but I've never experienced anything that extreme. Maybe you just lucked out (or unlucked out!) with a faulty unit? When you book next month, I'd suggest emailing the hotel directly beforehand and mentioning your previous experience. They might be able to give you a room with a working AC or at least one that doesn't feel like it's preparing for the next ice age. Good luck, and stay warm(ish)!

Honestly, the cocktails at the Polo Club are… divisive. Some are phenomenal, truly crafted and worth every penny. Others? Eh. It really depends on who's shaking your drink that night. I've had both unforgettable and utterly forgettable experiences there. My advice? Go for something classic, maybe a well-made Old Fashioned or a Margarita. They're less likely to be a gamble than some of their more inventive, "Instagrammable" creations. The atmosphere is undeniably swanky, though. You'll get a good night out of it, even if the drink isn't perfect. But yeah, be prepared for that hefty price tag. It's Singapore, after all.
