It's definitely popular, so expect some crowds, especially around sunset. Going early in the morning or later in the afternoon might be less hectic. Weekdays are usually quieter than weekends. For the best view, snag a spot near the edge – obvious, I know, but seriously, the further out you are, the less obstructed your view will be. And yeah, sunset is amazing there; you're not dreaming. Prepare to be blown away, but also, manage expectations – it's a really popular spot, so don't expect total solitude.

Honestly, Biopolis is pretty much a concrete jungle. Finding something truly "off the beaten path" within its confines is a tall order. Your best bet is to venture just outside Biopolis's immediate area. There are some pretty decent hawker centres within walking distance, offering a much more authentic and affordable Singaporean experience than anything you'll find inside the campus. Think bustling, noisy, and delicious. They're usually packed with locals, so you'll get a feel for the real Singapore. Forget the sterile lunch spots; the hawker centres are where the real action is. Even the scientists probably sneak out there sometimes.
