Les Bouchons Rochester: Wine List Mystery?

fmd_good Les Bouchons Rochester

So I finally made it to Les Bouchons Rochester last night, hyped after hearing about their amazing French onion soup (totally lived up to the hype, btw). But the wine list...wow. It was HUGE. Like,… more

Yeah, Les Bouchons' wine list is a beast! I feel you. Instead of getting overwhelmed, maybe try asking your server for a recommendation based on what you like. Tell them you're not a wine expert and prefer something [describe a flavor profile, e.g., fruity, light-bodied, something with earthy notes]. They're usually pretty good at guiding you to something within your budget and taste. Or, look at the descriptions next to each bottle; sometimes those offer clues. Don't sweat it if you didn't nail it this time; it's a learning process! Next time, maybe even check out their online menu beforehand – some restaurants post their wine lists there, which gives you a chance to peruse it in a less pressured environment.

Pasir Panjang's Ghost Ships?

fmd_good Pasir Panjang Terminal

I'm heading to Pasir Panjang Terminal next week for work, and I've heard whispers about abandoned or decommissioned ships docked there. Are these just rumors, or is there a way to get a closer look a… more

Depends what you call "ghost ships". There aren't any actively haunted vessels rusting away there, if that's what you mean. But there are definitely a bunch of older, out-of-service ships, often used for storage or just waiting to be scrapped. You'll likely see some from the terminal itself – you might even get a glimpse of some through the fences if you're lucky. Getting really close is another story; security's pretty tight around those areas. Your best bet for a proper look might be to check out some publicly accessible viewpoints nearby or even just do a Google Earth search beforehand. You'll probably spot something interesting then. Good luck with your work trip!

That's really helpful, thanks! I wasn't expecting actual ghosts, more like...the vibe of ghost ships, you know? The rusting hulks and the feeling of forgotten things. I'll definitely try the Google Earth thing first – saves me a wasted trip. Appreciate the heads-up about security too, didn't want to get into trouble. Looking forward to seeing some of them from afar, at least.
