Early morning, before 7 am. The sunrise views are incredible, and you'll practically have the pool to yourself. Seriously, it's a game changer. Alternatively, try going right after sunset – it's still busy, but less so than midday. Plus, the city lights at night are something else.

It's definitely busy, especially during peak hours and weekends. Think "popular tourist attraction" levels of busy. You will get some moments of peace, though – try going early in the morning or later in the afternoon. Weekdays are generally less crowded than weekends. Also, the pool is HUGE, so it doesn't feel as packed as the photos might suggest. You'll still get your iconic shots, don't worry. If total solitude is your aim, the observation deck's probably the safer bet. But the pool experience is pretty special... even with the crowds.
