It's surprisingly... not sterile. Yeah, there's the gleaming high-tech stuff, definitely. But you'll also see the frantic energy, the sheer number of people rushing around, the slightly chaotic organization that only makes sense to those involved. Think controlled chaos. There's definitely a "greasy wrench" element, not overtly, but you get hints of it in the air – that specific smell of oil and high-performance equipment. It's less museum and more a high-pressure workshop prepping for a massive event. It's intense, but that's part of its charm, I think. You'll probably see way more than you expect beyond the photos. Yeah, I've heard similar things about the Value Hotel near Orchard Road. Air con issues seem to be a pretty common complaint, sadly. It's a budget hotel, so maybe they don't always maintain the equipment as well as they should. Could be just bad luck with your room, but it sounds pretty frustrating! Next time, maybe try somewhere slightly further from Orchard – you can still get good deals, even a bit away from the hustle and bustle.
