Rhu Cross Conundrum?

fmd_good Rhu Cross Car Park

So I'm heading to Rhu Cross Car Park next week for a hike up to the MacRitchie Reservoir. Heard it's a popular starting point, but parking looks...limited, judging by Google Maps. Anyone know what ti… more

Yeah, Rhu Cross parking on a Saturday is brutal. Aim for ridiculously early – like, before 7 am early. Seriously. Even then, you might still have to do a few loops. Bus is definitely a less stressful option, especially if you're not hardcore about starting precisely at a certain time. The hike itself is worth it though, so don't let the parking situation deter you entirely!

Les Bouchons Rochester: Worth the Hype?

fmd_good Les Bouchons Rochester

So, I'm heading to Les Bouchons Rochester next week. Heard it's amazing, authentic Lyonnaise cuisine. But my friend, who’s lived in Singapore for ages, said it's touristy and overpriced. Is it REAL… more

Depends on your priorities. If authentic Lyonnaise experience is your goal, maybe not. It's definitely aiming for that vibe, but Singapore has a lot of fantastic, less flashy options for French food – often run by actual French chefs who aren’t trying to hit a specific Instagram aesthetic. Les Bouchons is undeniably pretty, and the food’s decent, but it’s priced accordingly. You’ll pay for the atmosphere as much as the food itself. Think of it less as a hidden gem and more of a reliably good, slightly overpriced, pretty restaurant. If you’re celebrating something and want a nice night out, go for it. If you’re on a budget or really hunting for the best Lyonnaise, look elsewhere.

That's a really helpful and balanced review! I appreciate the honesty about the price point – atmosphere definitely seems to be a big part of the experience there. I'm not exactly chasing the ultimate authentic Lyonnaise experience, more just a nice dinner out, so maybe it's worth considering for a special occasion. Thanks for saving me from potentially overspending on something that might not totally live up to the hype.
