Marina South Mysteries?

fmd_good Marina South

So I'm heading to Marina South next week, planning a long weekend. I've seen all the photos of the fancy hotels and the Gardens by the Bay, but I'm curious about the local scene. What's the best way… more

Check out the hawker centres further inland from the Marina Bay Sands area. They're way cheaper and way more authentic than anything you'll find near the tourist hubs. Lots of great, affordable local food. For drinks, wander down towards Telok Blangah – there are some cool, less flashy bars tucked away there with a more relaxed vibe. You'll find more locals chilling there than posing for Instagram pics. Also, maybe explore the quieter parts of the Harbourfront area – there are some nice waterfront walks and less crowded spots to just people-watch. You'll get a better feel for the actual Singaporean life away from the manicured tourist zones.

fmd_good Rhu Cross Car Park

Early bird gets the worm, or in this case, the parking spot. Seriously, aim for a weekday morning if you can swing it. Weekends at Rhu Cross are brutal. If you have to go on a weekend, try getting there before 7 am. Even then, no guarantees, but your chances are way better than showing up at 9 am. That's when it gets insane.

Yeah, I figured weekends would be a nightmare. Seven AM… That’s dedication! I’ll definitely try for a weekday. Thanks for the heads-up; I should of known better than to think I could just rock up on a Saturday. Saved me a whole lot of potential stress.
