Walking Across That Bridge

fmd_good Benjamin Sheares Bridge

So I walked across this thing last week, sunset was killer. Seriously, the view was unreal. But I couldn't find a decent place to grab a drink afterwards – anywhere nearby felt tourist-trappy. Any… more

Depends which bridge you mean! If you were on the Helix Bridge, try heading towards the Boat Quay area. There are some smaller bars tucked away down the side streets – less flashy than the main drag, but generally a better vibe. Or, if you're up for a bit of a walk, explore the Tiong Bahru neighbourhood. It's got a really cool, retro feel and some great little bars and cafes. Avoid Clarke Quay unless you really like being shoulder-to-shoulder with other tourists.

Nah, forget Gardens by the Bay. That's tourist trap central. The speakeasies in Singapore are much more discreet. Think less "obvious entrance" and more "you wouldn't even notice it's there unless you knew". Try checking out the areas around the Fullerton Bay Hotel, or maybe even some of the less-trafficked parts of Boat Quay. Seriously, these places are designed to be elusive. You'll stumble across it by accident before you'll find it by searching. Good luck with your "research". Let me know if you find it – I'm intrigued now too.
