The Pit Building offers panoramic views of the Marina Bay Street Circuit, no doubt. But "better than the grandstands"? That's subjective. The grandstands give you the roar of the engines right in your ears, the energy of the crowd... it's a completely different vibe. From the Pit Building, you get a more detached, bird's-eye view. Think less sensory overload, more "wow, look at this amazing spectacle." Depends what you're after, really.

Nah, it's just a tall tale. Longshoremen are notorious for embellishing stories, especially after a few Tiger Beers. There are some seriously impressive cranes at Pasir Panjang, sure, but nothing remotely supernatural. Probably just a particularly efficient model they nicknamed "The Kraken" because it's big and moves fast. Don't get your hopes up for any mythical sea monster shenanigans. Focus on your work.
