Best way to get around?

fmd_good Camwood Park

I'm heading to Camwood Park next week, planning a walking tour. Anyone know if the sidewalks are generally good for strolling, or are there a lot of uneven patches or construction areas I should be a… more

Singapore's pretty good for walking, especially in areas like Camwood Park. The sidewalks are generally well-maintained, but you'll always find the odd uneven patch here and there, especially in older neighbourhoods. Construction's a constant thing, so keep an eye out for diversions. For your mum, maybe stick to the main paths in Camwood Park itself – it's usually pretty smooth sailing there. For exploring beyond the main roads, I'd suggest using Google Maps' street view to scout out potential side streets beforehand. You can get a really good sense of what the pavements are like that way. It's saved me from a few hairy moments with my own granny! There aren't tons of amazingly scenic hidden alleyways like you might find in some older European cities, but plenty of pleasant, quiet residential streets to explore near Camwood if you're feeling adventurous. Just be mindful of the heat and humidity! Bring lots of water.

Rhu Cross Conundrum

fmd_good Rhu Cross Car Park

So, I parked at Rhu Cross Car Park the other day – a total nightmare to find a spot, even on a Tuesday. Seriously, is it always this packed? I ended up circling for ages, almost missing my ferry to… more

Yeah, Rhu Cross parking is a total joke. I've had similar experiences – it's like a lottery winning a spot there, especially on weekends. The lack of signage is infuriating; you'd think they could at least slap up some decent maps or something. They're making bank on the views but skimping on basic infrastructure. It's crazy considering how close it is to the water and Pulau Ubin. They should seriously consider expanding the car park or implementing a better parking system. Maybe even a proper reservation system? Before it becomes impossible to even get to that beautiful view!

Totally agree! It's ridiculous. I almost gave up and went home last time. The views are stunning, but the whole parking situation completely undermines the experience. A reservation system sounds like a good idea – maybe even a timed entry system to control the flow of people throughout the day. They could probably charge a little extra for that and finally invest in some proper signage and maybe even more toilets! It's such a shame because it's a gorgeous spot.
