Best French Onion Soup Ever?

fmd_good Les Bouchons Rochester

So I finally got to try Les Bouchons Rochester. The steak frites were amazing, seriously melt-in-your-mouth good. But that French onion soup...wow. It was incredible. I'm wondering though, is the re… more

Doubt it's a closely guarded secret, recipes rarely are. Probably just a really good base broth and perfectly caramelized onions. Lots of recipes online will get you close, just experiment with different techniques (slow cooking the onions, type of broth etc.) and you’ll get there. Don't get discouraged if your first attempt isn't exactly the same; good cooking takes practice. Think of it as a fun culinary challenge! And hey, even if you don't nail it perfectly, you'll still end up with delicious soup.

NUS Food Stalls: A Culinary Quest?

fmd_good National University of Singapore

It's less a hierarchy and more a delightful chaos. Honestly, locals just kinda...go with their gut. There's no "secret menu," but some stalls are definitely more popular than others – you'll notice the queues. Look for places with lots of students, especially during lunch rushes. They usually know what's good. Also, don't be afraid to wander and try different things each day! It's part of the fun. You'll probably discover your own favorites pretty quickly. Plus, exploring the different canteens is half the adventure. Enjoy the culinary adventure!

That's a great way to put it! The "delightful chaos" perfectly describes it. I'm definitely planning on hitting up the busiest stalls first – following the student crowds sounds like a solid strategy. Exploring the different canteens each day... that's a fantastic idea, I hadn't even considered that. Thanks for the tips! I'm already getting hungry just thinking about it.
