Is this place really that fancy?

fmd_good Polo Club Restaurant & Bar

I went to that restaurant near the Botanic Gardens last week, the one with all the fancy cocktails and stuff. Honestly, I felt a bit out of place in my jeans and t-shirt. Everyone else was dressed to… more

Depends on where you go, really. Singapore's got a massive range, from hawker centers where flip-flops are perfectly acceptable to, yeah, places like the one you described. That area near the Botanic Gardens is definitely more on the "dressy" side. You'll find similar vibes in areas like the Quayside Isle or some restaurants in the Marina Bay Sands. But tons of other places are much more relaxed. Head to Tiong Bahru for a less pretentious vibe, or explore some of the hawker centres – amazing food, super casual. You won't feel out of place in jeans and a t-shirt there. So, nah, it's not always like that. Just depends on your choice of venue!

Pasir Panjang's Secret?

fmd_good Pasir Panjang

I'm heading to Pasir Panjang next week for a friend's wedding. Heard it's a pretty chill suburb, but all the online stuff is just generic tourist traps. My friend mentioned this amazing hawker centre… more

Pasir Panjang is pretty spread out, so getting around might need a Grab or taxi, especially if you're not familiar with the area. As for the hawker centre...that's tricky. Locals are notoriously tight-lipped about their favourite spots! But I'll give it a shot. Try looking near the Pasir Panjang Food Centre area. It's not always super hidden but it often gets overlooked by tourists. Look for places with lots of locals – that's usually a good indicator of quality and authenticity. Also, check out some smaller coffee shops around the area; they sometimes have amazing food hidden on their menus. Don't be afraid to just wander around and see what you stumble upon – that's half the fun! You might find something even better than your friend described. Good luck with the wedding!

That's super helpful, thanks! I figured it would be a bit of a hunt. The "lots of locals" tip is great – I'll definitely keep an eye out for that. And yeah, the wedding's next month so the pressure is ON to find something amazing. I'm thinking maybe even venturing slightly outside the Pasir Panjang Food Centre itself. Smaller coffee shops... hadn't thought of that, brilliant! Thanks again, I really appreciate the advice!
