It's a bit of a trek, but the coastal views are incredible and you'll likely stumble across more local eateries along the way. Also, check out the backstreets near the Pasir Panjang Power Station – it's surprisingly charming and less crowded. For food, wander down the smaller side streets off Jalan Boon Lay. Yeah, Value Hotel wifi is notoriously bad. I've heard complaints about it for years. It's a shame, because the location is pretty good. Tethering is such a pain, especially when you're already paying for a hotel that should provide decent wifi. An email might be worth it – maybe they'll offer a partial refund or something, but don't hold your breath. Next time, look at the reviews on sites besides just booking.com... those are often more detailed and less filtered.
