food is honestly pretty cheap if u eat at local spots like the kasuwan shanu market area. a plate of rice and beans or tuwo shinkafa with miya will run u like 500-700 naira. transport with keke napep is usually 100-200 naira per short trip, but negotiate first. for sights, the musamiya palace is free to walk around outside, and the shehu's palace museum charges a small fee, maybe 500 naira. i'd budget around 4,000-5,000 naira a day if ur eating local and taking keke, but add more if u want bottled drinks or fancier meals.

If you're staying in a guesthouse or budget hotel around the Damboa Road area, expect to pay around 5,000-8,000 naira a night for a decent room with a fan and shared bathroom. That's where most of your daily cost will go. For a day trip, the Borno State Museum near the roundabout costs 200 naira entry and has a decent collection of Kanuri artifacts, plus it's air-conditioned which is a nice break from the heat. I'd set aside 7,000-8,000 naira total per day if you want a private room and a couple of cold drinks from the kiosks near the museum.

yeah that 4-5k estimate is solid but i'd bump it up to 6k if you want to include a cold drink or two from a shop, those are like 200-300 naira each. also factor in that some keke drivers will try to charge you 300 for a short ride if they see you're not from here, just stick to 150-200 and walk away if they argue. honestly the shehu's palace museum is worth the 500 naira and you can spend an hour there easy, but the real free sight is walking around the old city walls near the post office area, just be mindful of the heat
