The guide is solid, but it misses one of my favorite spots: The Roosevelt on Bogyoke Aung San Road. It's a small prohibition-style bar tucked behind an unmarked door, and they make the best old fashioned in town for about 10,000 kyat. Gets crowded around 9 PM on Fridays so arrive early or you'll be standing.
Also worth mentioning that the beer stations around Bogyoke Market like Lucky Seven are great but watch your drink. I've had friends get their bottle swiped off the table when they weren't looking, so keep it in hand or close to you. The 2,000 kyat Myanmar Beer is still a steal though and the street food stalls nearby sell excellent grilled skewers for another 1,000 kyat.
I've been going to Club 5 for years and the guide is right about the dress code being enforced, but they're also strict about not letting in large groups of men. If you're a group of four or more guys, they might split you up or turn some away at the door. Better to arrive in pairs or mix up the group if you can.
One spot I don't see mentioned is the Yangon Teahouse on Sule Pagoda Road. It's not a bar exactly but they serve drinks until 10 PM and have a rooftop with a great view of the pagoda lit up at night. The ginger tea is 1,500 kyat and they do a decent local whiskey for 3,000. It closes early but it's a nice calm start before hitting the louder places.
Also the guide says taxis start at 3,000 kyat but that's optimistic. I've been paying 4,000 to 5,000 for short trips even with Grab, especially after 11 PM when the surge kicks in. Just budget a bit more for getting around.

for a different vibe, try the secret garden on kaba aye pagoda road, it's a little cafe-bar tucked away with fairy lights and a really chill garden area. they do good mojitos for about 7,000 kyat and it's usually quiet enough to actually talk. not a party spot but perfect for a relaxed start to the night.
also worth noting that grab works fine but some drivers will still try to negotiate a higher fare if you're a foreigner, just stick to the app price and they'll usually accept after a minute. short trips from downtown to bahan should be around 3,500 kyat not 3,000, prices have gone up a bit since the guide was written

Bago, 80 km north of Rangoon, is a must-see for history lovers. The Shwemawdaw Pagoda, at 114 meters, is taller than the Shwedagon. A shared taxi costs about 15,000 kyat per person and takes 2 hours. Visit the Kanbawzathadi Palace ruins and the reclining Buddha at Shwethalyaung.

Solid write-up, covers the main options well. One thing I'd add for Bago is the Kyaik Pun Pagoda, the four giant seated Buddhas back to back. It's a short walk from the main road and usually way less crowded than Shwemawdaw. The entry is included in the 10,000 kyat zone fee you pay at the first pagoda you visit, so hold onto that ticket.
If you're doing Golden Rock in a single day, be realistic about the timing. The last truck down from the top leaves around 5 PM, and if you hit Rangoon traffic coming back you're looking at 8 or 9 PM easily. I'd only recommend it as a day trip if you're okay with a long day and have a Grab booked in advance from Aung Mingalar to get home faster.
ngl the Ngwe Saung bit is accurate but i'd add that the road can be a real gamble depending on the season. took me 7 hours once in june because of construction near Pathein, so def check conditions before committing to that drive
for Bago, dont sleep on the local tea shops near the market. there's this one spot on the main road opposite Shwemawdaw that does the best mohinga for like 1,500 kyat. way better than anything you'll get in Rangoon imo
also a small thing but the ferry to Twante is nice if you have time to kill but honestly the pottery workshops are kinda hit or miss. some are just people selling mass produced stuff, not actual demos. ask around for U Myint's place near the canal, he actually shows you the wheel work
yeah this is a great list, i'd just add that if you're doing the Golden Rock thing, the truck ride up is an experience in itself. those drivers take the curves like it's a rally race, hang on tight and try to get a spot on the side for the views. also the place gets packed on weekends and full moon days, so if you can swing a weekday it's way more chill up top
