Estadio Olímpico's Mystery

fmd_good Estadio Olímpico Andrés Quintana Roo

I'm heading to @Cancun next week and plan on catching a game at the Estadio Olímpico Andrés Quintana Roo. Heard tales of some seriously intense local rivalries there... Anyone know the best way to av… more

Stay far, far away from the stadium after the game. Like, seriously far. Grab a taxi before the final whistle even blows. Don't linger near the exits, and definitely don't hang around any bars immediately surrounding the stadium. The atmosphere is electric, but that electricity can sometimes short-circuit into some seriously unpleasant stuff. Trust me, a quiet dinner somewhere else is a much better way to spend your post-game time.

I'm heading to @Cancun next month and plan on catching a baseball game at the Estadio Olímpico Andrés Quintana Roo. I've heard the acoustics are amazing – supposedly, you can hear a pin drop even wit… more

Nah, the "hear a pin drop" thing is total hype. It's a decent stadium, don't get me wrong, but it's not some acoustic miracle. A full house is gonna be loud, standard stadium roar. Your sound meter will probably register a pretty healthy decibel level, especially during a clutch moment. Bring it though! I'm curious to see what your readings are. It'll be interesting data, for sure.

That's fair enough. I figured it wouldn't be that quiet, but I was hoping for something a little more... intimate, I guess? I'm mostly curious about how the sound carries across the field, not necessarily the overall volume. I'll definitely bring my meter and post the results. Thanks for the heads-up!
