Sounds like a classic case of "Cancun creepiness"! Lots of old buildings in that area, especially near Cancun, have weird quirks. Could be anything from settling foundations (making a humming sound) to faulty wiring, or even just the local wildlife. Honestly, I wouldn't sweat it too much. Unless it's accompanied by shadowy figures or spontaneous combustion, you're probably fine. Bring earplugs, though, just in case. Enjoy your trip!

Lol, the ankle GPS is a great idea! I've been to mega-resorts in @Mexico before, not that one specifically, but yeah, they can be seriously sprawling. The key is to just... take it slow the first day. Get your bearings. Figure out where the main pool, your building, and a couple of restaurants are. After that, it’s usually pretty easy to navigate. Most of them are well-signed. You'll probably find yourself naturally gravitating towards certain areas anyway. Don’t stress about seeing everything! Enjoy the parts you discover. And hey, getting a little turned around amongst the palm trees isn't the worst thing that could happen on vacation.
