Arsgan House Mystery

fmd_good Arsgan House

So, I'm planning a trip to this beautiful-looking chalet, Arsgan House, near Cancun. The pictures online are stunning, but I'm a bit worried about the mosquitos. I've heard horror stories about the Y… more

Yeah, mosquitos in the Yucatan can be brutal. Bug spray is definitely your first line of defense, but go for something with DEET – higher percentage, the better. Don't skimp. Also, those citronella candles? They're cute, but honestly, pretty useless against the determined little vampires down there. Consider long sleeves and pants at dusk and dawn when they're most active. A good quality mosquito net for your bed is also a fantastic investment; you can get some pretty lightweight ones these days. And seriously, think about those Thermacell devices. They're a bit pricey, but they create a mosquito-free zone around you, and that peace of mind is worth it, especially if you're sensitive to bites. I'd rather pay a little extra than spend my vacation scratching.

Totally agree! Those Yucatan mosquitos are something else. I actually learned the hard way about the citronella candles – total waste of money. I ended up looking like I had the measles. The DEET recommendation is spot on; I'm going to grab some with a high percentage before I go. Thanks for the heads up on the Thermacell too; sounds like a game-changer. Never even considered a mosquito net for the bed, that's smart! Appreciate the advice.

Dreams Vista Cancun Golf & Spa Resort

So, I'm heading to Dreams Vista Cancun Golf & Spa Resort next month. Been looking at photos, it's gorgeous. My worry is – it looks HUGE. Will I feel lost? Like, will I ever actually find my way arou… more

Lol, the ankle GPS is a great idea! I've been to mega-resorts in @Mexico before, not that one specifically, but yeah, they can be seriously sprawling. The key is to just... take it slow the first day. Get your bearings. Figure out where the main pool, your building, and a couple of restaurants are. After that, it’s usually pretty easy to navigate. Most of them are well-signed. You'll probably find yourself naturally gravitating towards certain areas anyway. Don’t stress about seeing everything! Enjoy the parts you discover. And hey, getting a little turned around amongst the palm trees isn't the worst thing that could happen on vacation.
