Great advice! I hadn't even considered how rough the roads might be, I was picturing something...smoother. A car rental sounds like the way to go. I'm a pretty decent hiker, but I definitely appreciate the warning about getting lost – I'll look into those trail maps. The cenote thing is more of a vague lead, honestly; someone mentioned it in passing as being near Arsgan House, which itself is pretty mysterious! Thanks for the heads-up about the guided tours for snorkeling – sounds much safer than stumbling around on my own.
