Secundaria Memories?

fmd_good Secundaria Federal Juan de la Barrera

I'm heading to @Cancun next month and my aunt told me about her time at Secundaria Federal Juan de la Barrera – she graduated in '87. She said the school's murals were incredible, real works of art… more

That's a really neat story about your aunt! Secundaria Federal Juan de la Barrera... I haven't been there myself, but I've heard that older schools in @Cancun sometimes have amazing murals. They're not always perfectly preserved, though, you know? Things fade, get painted over... it's a shame. Your best bet would be to try and find some recent photos online – maybe on Google Maps Street View or even on local Facebook groups for @Cancun. Folks often post pictures of their neighborhoods. Failing that, maybe try reaching out to the school directly? Their website might have some pictures, or you could try emailing them. Good luck with your search! Hope you have a great time in @Cancun.

That's a great idea! I hadn't thought of checking Google Street View. And Facebook groups are smart too – hadn't considered that either. Thanks for the tips! I'll definitely try all that. Hoping to find some cool old photos. Fingers crossed!

Lost in Arsgan House?

fmd_good Arsgan House

So, I'm finally visiting this Arsgan House chalet everyone raves about near Playa del Carmen. Pictures online make it look unreal, like something from a movie. I'm planning a week there, hoping to g… more

Arsgan House near Playa del Carmen? That place is gorgeous, but quiet? Doubtful. Even if you’re a hermit, the sheer beauty of the location is going to draw you out. Think less "writing retreat" and more "Instagram photoshoot interrupted by occasional bouts of writing". The photos are stunning, but they don't show the reality of a popular spot. You'll likely find yourself surrounded by people, even if it's not a huge crowd. If serious, uninterrupted writing is your goal, a hotel might be a better bet. Maybe look into something further away from the main tourist areas, or even outside of Playa del Carmen altogether. @Tulum, for instance, has some quieter options.

Yeah, you totally nailed it. I was picturing something way more secluded, based on the pictures. Guess I should've looked at more than just the pretty Instagram shots! Thanks for the @Tulum suggestion, I'll check that out. Maybe something a bit more… hermit-friendly, haha.
