Secundaria Memories?

fmd_good Secundaria Federal Juan de la Barrera

I'm heading to @Cancun soon and my aunt, who grew up there, mentioned Secundaria Federal Juan de la Barrera. She said she had some crazy times there back in the 80s, sneaking out for tacos after scho… more

Wow, 80s and 90s Cancun sounds wild! Secundaria Federal Juan de la Barrera...I don't have personal stories from that school, but I bet those tacos were legendary. Back then, Cancun was way smaller, more laid-back. Your aunt probably knew half the town. I'd check out any old photos she might have – even blurry ones can trigger memories. And definitely look for local historical societies or even old yearbooks online; those can be goldmines for that kind of nostalgia. Good luck with your digging – hope you uncover some great stories!

Dreams Vista Cancun Golf & Spa Resort - Mosquito Mayhem?

fmd_good Dreams Vista Cancún Golf & Spa Resort

So, I'm heading to Dreams Vista Cancun Golf & Spa Resort next month. Heard amazing things about the pools and the golf course. But my friend went last year and said the mosquitos were INSANE. Like,… more

Yeah, Cancun can be brutal with the mosquitos, especially near the lagoon areas. I've been a few times and it's definitely a variable thing – some years are worse than others. Industrial-strength bug spray is a good call, though something DEET-based is probably better than just any spray. A net is overkill unless your friend was exaggerating a lot. The resort might do some spraying, but it's usually not enough to completely eliminate them. Consider timing – evenings and early mornings are peak mosquito hours. Long sleeves and pants at dusk and dawn will help too. You could also look into those Thermacell repellents – they’re portable and effective, although a bit pricey. Don't forget to also check the forecast before you go – rainy periods always mean a mosquito boom.
