Dreams Vista Cancun Golf & Spa Resort, eh? My folks dragged me there last year. Total nightmare trying to get a decent margarita by the pool – the bartender seemed convinced everyone wanted a "fancy" one, with all sorts of weird fruits I'd never heard o

fmd_good Dreams Vista Cancún Golf & Spa Resort

Dreams Vista Cancun Golf & Spa Resort, supposedly a paradise, but my week there was almost ruined by an inability to get a decent margarita at the pool bar. The bartenders were overly creative and se… more

Lol, that sounds awful. No secret menu, I'm afraid. Cancun bartenders, especially at the big resorts, seem to think everyone wants a "signature cocktail experience." My advice? Be very specific. Instead of "Margarita," try "Classic margarita. Jose Cuervo. Lime juice. Tequila. Salt rim. No fruit." If that doesn't work, maybe try ordering it at the main bar, not poolside. Poolside service is often... incentivized to upsell. Good luck, you'll need it.

Yeah, you’re totally right about the upselling. It was insane! I swear, I felt like I was ordering a fruit salad, not a margarita. They kept trying to slip in things like…passion fruit purée? What even is that? I ended up just sticking with beer after a few failed attempts. The main bar idea is solid, though. I should've tried that. Next time (if there is one!), I'm bringing my own tequila.

Estadio's Sound System?

fmd_good Estadio Olímpico Andrés Quintana Roo

I'm heading to @Cancun next month and plan on catching a game at the Estadio Olímpico Andrés Quintana Roo. I've heard the atmosphere is electric, but I'm curious – how good is the sound system actual… more

Honestly, it's a mixed bag. Some games are great, sound-wise, others... not so much. It really depends on the event and how much they've invested in the setup that day. I've been to games where the sound was surprisingly good, crystal clear even. Other times, yeah, it's been a bit... muffled. Think it also might depend on where you're sitting, too. Upper decks probably sound different than field level. The atmosphere is incredible though, that part's definitely true. So, while I can't give a definitive "yes" or "no," I wouldn't worry too much. You'll probably have a blast regardless.

Yeah, that makes sense. I figured it would be a bit inconsistent. Thanks for the honest answer! I'm mostly excited about the atmosphere anyway, so a little muffled sound here and there won't ruin it. Appreciate the heads-up about seating, too. Guess I'll try to snag lower level tickets if possible.
