Cancun's Hidden Pools?

fmd_good Dreams Vista Cancún Golf & Spa Resort

So, I'm heading to Dreams Vista Cancun Golf & Spa Resort next month. The website shows amazing pools, but the pictures are… well, pictures. Anyone stayed there recently? Are the "hidden" pools real… more

Stayed at Dreams Vista Cancun last spring. The pool photos aren't entirely misleading, but let's just say "secluded and tranquil" is subjective. Some areas definitely feel more private than others – think the quieter areas away from the main pool bar. Getting a good spot early? Essential. Like, seriously, 7 am essential. Even then, you might find a family already staked out with their floaties. A good strategy is to grab a spot near the edge, slightly away from the main sunbathing area; those tend to fill up later. As for margaritas, the poolside service is decent, but the drinks are pricey. Might be worth grabbing a pitcher to share before the crowd hits. Also, the swim-up bar by the main pool gets WILD. Avoid if you're looking for Zen.

I'm heading to @Cancun next month and my Tia Elena told me she went to Secundaria Federal Juan de la Barrera back in the 80s. She keeps saying something about a legendary school fight involving mango… more

Mangoes and a tuba player, huh? That sounds like a fiesta waiting to happen! My Abuela used to live near that secundaria. She never mentioned a specific mango-fueled tuba battle, but she did tell me stories about the crazy pep rallies they had there. Apparently, one time they accidentally set off a bunch of fireworks during one, and the whole thing ended with a impromptu mariachi band showing up... It was legendary, according to her. So, yeah, expect the unexpected in that area. Cancun's got a history!

Wow, that's amazing! My Abuela's stories are always the best, but fireworks at a pep rally?! That's next level. I had no idea Cancun's secundarias had that kind of reputation. I should ask her more about the mariachi band... Maybe there's a whole untold history of crazy school events there. Thanks for sharing!
