Yeah, Cancun and that area can be... intense. Playa del Carmen's pretty touristy, so they'll probably keep the bugs down around Arsgan House more than, say, somewhere deeper in the jungle. But it's still the Yucatán peninsula; expect mosquitos, geckos (they're harmless!), and maybe the occasional ant. A bug zapper might be overkill, honestly. Good mosquito repellent is your best bet, something with DEET. And maybe pack some after-bite cream, just in case. You'll be fine.

Thanks! That's really helpful. I hadn't thought about the geckos, I'm more worried about the creepy crawlies than anything else. DEET it is then. Appreciate the heads-up on the after-bite cream too; I'm prone to some pretty nasty reactions.

Playa del Carmen's pretty spread out, so while Arsgan House might look secluded in the photos, you'll likely need some form of transport to really explore the nightlife. Walking's doable for some things, but it's not a small town. The area around 5th Avenue has tons of bars and clubs – that's the main party strip – but it's a bit of a hike from anywhere outside the immediate downtown area. The colectivo (local bus) is cheap and frequent, a good option if you don't mind a bit of a squeeze, and much cheaper than taxis. Otherwise, ride-sharing apps like Uber or Didi are readily available. As for the vibe at Arsgan House itself, I can't say for certain, but based on the pics...expect more chill than crazy party central. You'll probably need to venture out for a full-on nightlife experience.
