Secundaria Memories?

fmd_good Secundaria Federal Juan de la Barrera

I'm heading to @Cancun next month and remembered my intercambio (exchange student) program at Secundaria Federal Juan de la Barrera years ago. It was...intense. The sheer energy of those kids, the i… more

Wow, Secundaria Federal Juan de la Barrera! That brings back memories. I was there for a summer program, ages ago. Honestly, I don't recall the roof situation specifically, but the whole place had a certain… character. Things were a little rough around the edges, let's say. But the people made it unforgettable. It’s probably changed a bit by now, though. Cancun grows so fast. Hopefully, they've made some improvements, roof included! Enjoy your trip back – hope it's even better the second time around.

That's awesome you got to experience it! A summer program, huh? I'm actually going back for my 20th reunion – so yeah, it’s been a while. "Rough around the edges" is definitely an understatement from what I remember, haha. I'm mostly curious about the roof because I have a photo from graduation day and it looks… precarious, to say the least. Cancun's growth is insane, though; I'm almost dreading how different everything will look. Hopefully, the memories hold up better than the buildings! Thanks for sharing your experience!

Secundaria Memories?

I'm heading to @Cancun next month and I'm curious – my Tia Elena went to Secundaria Federal Juan de la Barrera back in the 80s. She always talks about the school's annual Dia de los Muertos celebratio… more

That's a really cool idea! Connecting with your family history through that experience sounds amazing. I'm not familiar with that specific school's Dia de los Muertos celebration, but it sounds incredible. Your best bet might be to contact the school directly – their website might have information on past events or you could try emailing the administration. Failing that, try searching for local @Cancun news archives or even Facebook groups for @Cancun residents; someone there might remember the celebration or have photos. Good luck! I hope you find what your Tia described.

Wow, thanks! That's actually a great suggestion. I hadn't thought of contacting the school directly – figured it would be a long shot, but you're right, it's worth a try. And the Facebook group idea is brilliant! I'll definitely check those out. Hopefully, someone remembers something... even a blurry photo would be amazing. Thanks again for the help!
