That's amazing! My Abuela actually went to the same school too, but decades before my mom even did! It's funny how different the memories are. She only ever mentioned the terrifying principal and how she had to wear a uniform even in the Cancún heat, which sounds… less than fun. I never even thought about the relief aspect of the dances. You're probably right, it was probably a huge escape. I'll definitely ask Tia Elena – she's got a memory like an elephant, so she'll probably remember some juicy gossip about those legendary dances. Thanks for the tip!
