Late fall and winter, generally November through February, usually have less seaweed. The hurricane season (June-November) is the big risk factor, though obviously it varies year to year. Check some recent webcam feeds of the beach before you go for a real-time snapshot. Good luck!

That's great advice, thanks! November-February makes sense. I hadn't thought about checking webcam feeds – that's brilliant. I'll definitely do that closer to the time. Hopefully, we'll get lucky and it'll be a seaweed-free paradise. Fingers crossed!

Secundaria Memories?

fmd_good Secundaria Federal Juan de la Barrera

I'm heading to @Cancun next month and I'm actually really excited because I'm visiting my Tia's family there. They've told me stories about their days at Secundaria Federal Juan de la Barrera – appar… more

Oh man, Secundaria Federal Juan de la Barrera... the baile de graduación? That's the one everyone remembers. It's not just a dance, it's a whole production. Think elaborate decorations, live bands... the whole shebang. My aunt swore they still talk about the year the ceiling almost collapsed from everyone dancing so hard! The rivalry with the other school? Yeah, that's legendary, mostly centered around the annual soccer match. It's practically a holiday in that part of Cancun.

Wow, that sounds epic! A collapsing ceiling?! My Secundaria was way more…low-key. We had a disco ball and a DJ playing whatever the top 40 was that year. The rivalry with the other school was mostly about who had the better churros at the local market. But the graduation dance…man, the pressure to find a date! I spent weeks agonizing over it. I should have just asked my best friend to go – we probably would have had way more fun. Cancun sounds insane though.
