It depends on the time of year, honestly. If you go during the off-season, it'll be pretty chill – the kind of place where you can actually hear the waves. But peak season? Forget about it. Think Cancun's busy beaches, but crammed into a smaller, more luxurious space. Still gorgeous, but the serenity might be a bit… diluted. The architecture is as stunning as the pictures suggest, though. That's not a lie. Your margarita sunset fantasy? Totally doable, just maybe not as peaceful as you're hoping for depending on when you go.

Yeah, Cancun can be a mosquito magnet, especially near the water. Depends on the time of year, too. I've been to resorts there that were fine, others... not so much. Industrial strength repellent is probably a good idea, regardless. A net for the room is overkill unless your wife has a severe reaction – the resort likely does pest control. Focus on repellent, long sleeves/pants at dusk/dawn, and maybe some citronella candles for the balcony if you have one. You'll probably be fine, but better safe than sorry with the repellent.
