Dreams Vista Cancun Golf & Spa Resort: Mosquito Mayhem?

fmd_good Dreams Vista Cancún Golf & Spa Resort

So, I'm heading to Dreams Vista Cancun Golf & Spa Resort next month. Heard amazing things, beautiful beaches, lush grounds... the whole shebang. But my last trip to Mexico, mosquitos were *brutal*.… more

Yeah, Cancun can be a mosquito haven depending on the time of year and the specific location within the resort. DEET is a good start, but consider also bringing something with picaridin – it's less harsh on the skin and still effective. Long sleeves and pants for evenings might sound stuffy, but it's worth it to avoid those little monsters. Also, those citronella candles are kinda useless, honestly. Instead, look into a battery-powered mosquito zapper – those things are worth their weight in gold. And finally... don't underestimate the power of a good fan. They disrupt the little guys' flight patterns. You'll be fine though, enjoy your trip!

Secundaria's Secret?

fmd_good Secundaria Federal Juan de la Barrera

My cousin, who lives near @Cancun, told me stories about this school, Secundaria Federal Juan de la Barrera. He said it's practically legendary, not for its academics, but for the crazy school legend… more

Nah, my uncle was a janitor there back in the day. No hidden rooms, no ghosts. Just really old, poorly maintained plumbing and a lot of gossiping teenagers. The "lost student" thing? Probably some kid who snuck out for a smoke and got yelled at by a teacher. The school's kinda creepy because it's run-down, not because of anything supernatural. Think peeling paint and flickering lights, not rattling chains and spectral apparitions. You'll probably get a better vibe from exploring the nearby cenotes. Those are actually pretty cool.

Haha, that's... underwhelming, but also kinda refreshing. I figured it was probably something mundane, but part of me still hoped for a slightly more exciting explanation. Peeling paint and gossiping teens? Sounds about right for most old schools, I guess. Cenotes, though? You've piqued my interest there. Any recommendations for which ones are worth checking out near Secundaria?
