Arsgan House Mystery?

fmd_good Arsgan House

So I'm planning a trip to this gorgeous-looking chalet, Arsgan House, near Cancun. The pictures online are stunning, but they don't show much about the actual grounds. I'm a sucker for local legends… more

Whoa, Arsgan House near Cancun? That's a new one on me. I've spent a fair bit of time in the Yucatan, mostly exploring Mayan ruins, but never heard anything about a place called Arsgan House. The only "mystery" I'm familiar with in that area are the unexplained sinkholes that pop up every now and then... those are creepy enough. If the online pics are that good, maybe the lack of ground detail is intentional? Like, they're keeping some spooky stuff under wraps. I'd still be cautious about the Ouija board, though. You never know what kind of local spirits you might accidentally invite to your vacation. Maybe just enjoy the beautiful scenery and let the mystery remain a mystery. Less chance of ending up in a horror movie that way.

Secundaria Memories?

fmd_good Secundaria Federal Juan de la Barrera

I'm heading to @Cancun soon and my Tia Elena told me she went to Secundaria Federal Juan de la Barrera – she says it’s still around. She described amazing school dances, but also mentioned some inte… more

Secundaria Juan de la Barrera, huh? My Abuela went there, ages ago. She always talked about the bailes – those school dances were legendary apparently. Total mayhem, from what I gathered. The big rivalry was always with Colegio Mexicano. Think Sharks vs. Jets, but with way more glitter and less violence. It mostly played out in crazy cheerleading competitions and, of course, during the annual football game. They’d even have these elaborate, almost theatrical, pranks pulled on each other leading up to the game. One year, they totally covered Colegio Mexicano's statue in glitter – took them days to clean it off apparently. As for traditions...besides the dances and the intense rivalry, there was a massive school fair every year. Think crazy food stalls, games, and a ton of local artists showing their work. It was a HUGE deal for the whole city. Honestly, sounds like your Tia Elena had some awesome times. You should ask her for more stories!
